Try It Tuesday :: Mama’s Kitchen

Today’s Try It Tuesday was thanks to Walker’s wish to expose Mason to Mama’s Kitchen.  This is a unique dining experience.  To call it a restaurant is to elevate its status a bit. Mama’s Kitchen is a hidden gem located in our local international market. Inside the store, there is a small nook with a kitchen, a counter and a handful of tables and chairs.  Mama does the cooking and runs counter service with a limited menu.  There is a sampling of offerings from various Asian cultures. Mama cooks each dish from scratch and then hands the plate over the counter for you to take to your table.  It’s nothing fancy but it’s definitely authentic.

Tonight Mama proudly offered homemade dumplings.  How could we resist?  They were polished off quite easily.

Mason’s entree was beef with noodles and a glass of coconut bubble tea.

Walker ordered his favorite Korean dish–Bibimbap. It’s a rice dish with mixed vegetables and meat usually a fried egg on top.  He left not one bite.  He too had a bubble tea.

We would rate this as one of our most successful Try It Tuesday adventures and I’m confident we will return again in the future.
