The Vegas Trip Begins

In the middle of June, Bill and I planned a trip out to Las Vegas so the boys and I could visit my grandparents in their new assisted living home.  Unfortunately, my grandfather passed away.  As we awaited information about when and where the funeral would be, Bill and I juggled myriad of travel options to try to parlay our tickets to include a visit with my grandmother.  When the funeral plans were settled, we realized that it would not be possible for us to see my grandmother in Vegas nor to see her in Los Angeles using the airfare tickets we had purchased.  In the end, we decided that the boys and I would go to Las Vegas and have a mini vacation and then I would travel to Los Angeles for the funeral alone.

Our travel started on Monday afternoon when we headed to Cincinnati for our flight.  I timed it so that we could visit IKEA because I had a few items on my wish list.  While it was fun to walk through that lovely Swedish store, I walked out with only a laundry octopus for a friend, an egg slicer for myself and a bunch of Swedish candy for the boys.  We left there and had dinner at BJ’s.  The boys each had a bacon cheeseburger and I had a mini pizza.  They devoured their burgers but I was sorely disappointed with my pizza.  It turned out that mini meant smaller than my outstretched hand. It tasted fine but I hoped for something bigger.  We turned in early in anticipation of our 7 AM flight.  Sin City, here we come.
