Thankful

Early this morning we headed north to visit the Sandersons.  We’ve been friends for so long that I thought nothing of calling Kristina and saying, “You just moved to a place where you have no family and we have no plans.  How about spending Thanksgiving together?”  It was an easy trip and before long, we were at their new home in Michigan.

They live on what is called The Third Coast.  This is the view at the end of their short street.

Speaking of dinner, Kristina made quite the spread of traditional fair including ham and two turkeys.  Jordan prepared the vegetarian alternative herself and it was a big hit.  I would be amiss if I did not mention the pierogies that Kristina made for us from scratch.  We have shared many a holiday making this traditional dish together over the years and I was touched that she went to the trouble to make them just for our family.  Of course, my potato loving kid ate them right up and asked for more.

Our evening was delightful and we caught up on old times just as we always have done.  I’m very thankful for good friends and good times together.

Happy Thanksgiving!
